Science Museum

We spent 4 hours at the science museum today, and did a TON. We studied more about watersheds, microorganisms in water and what lives on our hands, what kinds of larva live in streams and ponds and what they turn into (crane flies, dragonflies, etc.) and saw some live ones.

We tried out the pulleys again and Soren and I figured out why some of them are easier to use than others. Soren did sand sculptures.

We looked at a bunch of Native American exhibits and talked about how they used leverage and fire to cut wood for building. we saw how they made clothes out of deerskin. We spent more time in the Frederick Douglass exhibit, which I never stop learning from. We talked about the underground railroad. We looked at a map of Rochester from the 1850s and how the Erie Canal came through at that time and how the Genesee River flows from Gold, PA to Lake Ontario and how it's one of very few rivers that flow south to north.

It was great fun!
