lcg 3/28

Hello parents,

We had a nice day today.

We started with clapping and a singing marching game as we waited for everyone to arrive. We did our opening and singing, then got right into painting spring scenes.

We came back and did more hand clapping and marching games, then settled in to crochet.

Snack time found us solving mystery stories. Then we played a bit of recorder before we heard the next piece of our Old Testament stories-- the story of Isaac and Rebecca, and Jacob and Esau, featuring the origin of "Jacob's Ladder." We did a bit of beeswax modelling then headed out into the sunshine to jump rope. It's nice to get back to all of our old activities.

Have a good week,
Lynn

Dear Parents and Friends,

It was a lively day for the Maples. We really missed Sue and Cathleen, but we're so graeful that our friend Betsy Peacock could join us for the afternoon.

We remembered Spring's arrival with a poem or two and by inviting lots of birds to fly in and out of our windows. We reviewed the story told weeks ago called"The Country at the Bottom of the Well" and talked about making it into our play. The children volunteered for the many roles and had lots of ideas for staging it. With Betsy, we did bean-bag counting, passing and then some walking and counting exercises, accompanied by lots of laughter. We were hungry! We ate our snack and shared stories and riddles and went outside for a " noticing" walk and an energetic game of tag. Inside, we settled for a solid 1/2 hour of handwork with Melissa and at the end of the afternoon, Betsy led us in some challenging and delightful form drawing exercises. Then we dashed outside into the welcome warmth!

Best wishes to all.

PS If you find a Smart Wool sock among your child's belongings, it's mine.

Anne
