LCG Soren 1/24
Dear Maple Class Families,
We had a high energy, bouncy day on Tuesday. We came together with the movement chant "Juba This and Juba That", clapping, hopping or jumping in counts of three. At circle time we gathered around the lit candle for our verses, then practiced a round we learned last week - "Music Alone Shall Live". Cathleen told the story of a young prince who thwarts the Black Imp's mischievous plan with the help of his animal companions. Our hands warmed the beeswax, then turned it into pears and cherries, trees and animals, as well as other characters in the story.
A "Sailor Went To Sea-Sea-Sea" got our voices and hands busy with a new and more complex clapping rhythm. The rhythmic practice continued as we passed beanbags to the beat of the nursery rhyme "Peas Porridge Hot". Cathleen then introduced a new form drawing - the most difficult one we have yet tried, with mirror images both up/down and left/right. Our Maples showed amazing focus as they concentrated on this challenge.
After a snack time filled with stories and jokes (and some great magic tricks by Mark!) we settled into a sociable half hour of knitting and chatting. Once our needles were stowed away, we literally bounced through a silly rendition of "Rattlin' Bog" and then practiced "The Skye Boat Song" on our recorders. We had just enough time to send around a friendship squeeze as we closed our circle, then out into the frosty air we burst. Anne will be back next week. Have a wonderful week,
Sue and Cathleen
