LCG update 9/28

Hello parents,

We had another enjoyable day with the Evergreen Class.

We started with our opening verse, then did a beanbag toss to help learn names. We welcomed Emmyrose, who
wasn't able to be here last week.

Then we did some marching games and moved right into form drawing-- looking at a round form, then seeing
how it would look with straight lines. Then we did recorder.

Then it was time for Melissa Carlson to come in-- our first session of handwork. We spent a bit longer
than usual, getting situated with what our projects for the year will be. We sent home supplies with
Emmyrose, Lila and Nat to make knitting needles at home. Let me or Melissa know if you have questions.
We'll work with Emma K on that in class next week. Some children picked right up where they left off, some
will be needing help getting back up to speed. We'll be knitting small animals this year, and also
knitting individual squares to be sewn together into a blanket that we'd like to give away.

If any of you are knitters who are able to be in class, we'd love to have you. As Melissa helps some with
their knitting needles, others need individual help with their knitting. Another pair of hands would be
most welcome. Let me know if you can come in in the next few weeks. I think our handwork time will be from
2-2:30.

After snack we moved into some clapping games, then it was time for Main Lesson. We reviewed the story of
Chanticleer, and drew pictures, and wrote a short summary. The children took special care to create
beautiful drawings. Some worked extra long, so those who finished early joined me in some singing, while
those still drawing and writing could sing along if they wanted.

The day flew by-- we didn't get to jump rope or outside games.

I am enjoying being with your children. I end my day happily tired.

See you all next week,
Lynn
