Hi all,

To fill you in on today--

We began with a play rehearsal, complete with costumes, including lovely angel wings made by Melissa. The play is coming along well.
We spent extra time working with all the details of where to stand, speaking loudly, etc. Please be sure the children continue to listen to the CD, and, if you can, work with them from the scripts. In general they are doing very well and know most of their lines.

We went back to class and finally drew pictures of the Noah's Ark story in our main lesson books. Then we stopped for snack and celebrated Allysa's half birthday, with wishes, delicious food and a bit of singing.

Betsy Peacock came in to relieve me at that point as two of my valentines were home sick with fevers. I was glad to get home a bit early to tend to them.

We do not have class next week-- February break. We will have our dress rehearsal the following Tuesday-- Feb. 28. I'll send a reminder about props that week.

We look forward to our performances on March 7 and 10. I think Jeff Nidetz (Mark Toker's dad) will be contacting you all about bringing in refreshments for the Friday evening performance.

Happy St. Valentine's Day to Everyone!
In keeping with the theme of the holiday, we had a sweet and festive class today. We missed Ben, and Anne was not feeling well and so went home early, but those of us who were there began our day by making Valentines using last week's paintings and lots of glue, doilies and construction paper. We then gathered for circle, saying our verses and singing some "Valentine's Carols" - Skinamarink and A, You're Adorable. We learned a short poem about snowflakes, then recalled last week's story about Great Joy, the Ox. They remembered every detail! Hands and crayons were busy sketching out pictures of the great ox who could pull one hundred laden carts.
After drawing and writing in our main lesson books, we did a quick hand clapping song. Cathleen taught us a new rhythm and rhyme for passing bean bags, with our hands "flowing like a river". At snack time, we enjoyed some gluten free heart shaped scones and looked at all of the beautiful handmade valentines from our friends. Our handwork time was as busy and chatty as ever with the "under the table" crew exchanging jokes and stories. We talked briefly about what the class would like to do for our upcoming play, then played "The Skye Boat Song" and "Hot Cross Buns" on recorder. After closing our circle with "Shalom Chaverim", we got giggling with a little bit of "crab wrestling" before heading out into the snow. A reminder - there will be no Lilac next week. Have a lovely two weeks, and we look forward to seeing everyone on the 28th. Love,
