lcg emma 1/17

Hi all,

We had lively and fun day. We started with our opening verse and songs, then reviewed the creation story from last week. Then we painted scenes from that story.

That took us to handwork time. I read the play to the children as they crocheted away. After snack we played "The Big Wind Blows" and then got into our second Old Testament story-- the story of Cain and Abel. These stories can be intense! I am moving along quickly so I can actually tell the story of Noah that we are using for our play.

Speaking of the play, I'm wondering if any parents are able to help-- either by coming in for an hour or so on a Tuesday to help us practice, or help us figure our costumes and props. We will try to keep it simple, and use our stash of LCG tunics and silks, but we'll probably need some extra help (and an ark....) Thanks for any help you can give.

I hope to have tapes or CDs of the play next week. For newcomers, the way we do plays at LCG is to have the children listen to the play over and over and over and over again to memorize it (and know it "by heart"). This way the children seem to take it in on a deeper level, and they also learn more of the play. On more than one occasion, other cast members have been known to prompt a player who forgot lines. We will probably cast the play the week after next. Then we will rehearse in earnest for the remaining weeks.

ADDITIONAL PRACTICE FEBRUARY 11
I hope this works for most of you, I apologize if it doesn't. I'd like to schedule one additional practice at my house Sat. 2/11 from 1-3. We'll also do a small tea party. We find that having an extra rehearsal, besides our weekly class, helps us pull things together. I hope you'll consider car pooling to make this easy for everyone.

To finish the day we again helped clean up in the Willow Room. Thanks for all parents who helped-- many hands make light work.

Have a good week. And, always let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Also-- please note the message from Linda Phillips re Barb Guzik-Hammonds surgery-- (Allysa's mom). Linda is coordinating meals.

Thanks,
Lynn
