LCG Soren 9/13
How wonderful to see everyone again! The Maples had a joyful, energetic reunion, and welcomed two new friends - Sam and Soren. It was amazing to see these tall children coming toward us across the rainbow bridge. Everyone seems to have grown so much! Back in our room, we settled right into circle time with our opening verse ("The sun with loving light/ makes bright for me each day"), an introduction game, an old favorite song - "Beneath the Towering Pine", and a riddle. We played "Bluebird, Bluebird, Fly through my Window" to get energetic bodies moving and Sue re-told a folktale from last year called "Anait and Vachagan". Anne talked about the beautiful patterns and words in the carpets that Vachagan wove, and we used our visions as inspiration as we illustrated the first pages of our Main Lesson Books.
We did some marching and counting, moving forward and backward, before snack. After snack, we closed our circle with more singing and our "Merry we have met" verse. We enjoyed the beautiful weather by taking a nature walk around the church building, then playing Lemonade outside. Finally, we raced to the playground to play with old and new friends before pick-up time.
Next week we will be resuming our handwork and recorder playing. Please be sure to have your child bring his or her knitting needles and recorder. We will also be asking parents to indicate which week they would like to celebrate their child's birthday. Our class has many fall and early winter birthdays, so we would like to celebrate any summer birthdays later in the year so as to space them out a little. We hope to see you all next week.
Love, Sue and Anne
