9/22/04

Yesterday I felt compelled to do some "lessons" which made the girls groan, but I reminded them that school was 6 hours a day, and I was only asking for an hour or two. Not that life has been devoid of lessons the past week. Both girls were present for the homebirth of their brother, Jude,on 9/15/04, and we reiterated a lot of stuff we had already talked about regarding anatomy, birth, the uterus, breastfeeding and more. We learned about the placenta, the cord and care, and lots more.

Emma did some independent reading on colonial times, Soren did a butterfly craft, and we started reading The Secret Garden together.

They both wrote about Jude's birth as a writing assignment earlier this week and did a great job!

Yesterday I came up with spelling lists that we didn't get to, as well as a lesson on homynyms.

Soren did 4 pages in her reading comprehension workbook, 4 pages of printing practice and 4 pages in a scrabble fun workbook.

Emma did 4 pages of printing, and 2 pages of cursive, g and h.

Baby's waking up, so that will have to do for now! Today we're going to read more Secret Garden, get Emma to do the butterfly craft and do spelling and hopefully math.

Tom is going to do a unit on bears with them this weekend hopefully.
