Zoo
The girls wanted to go to the science museum today but it was the first day it hasn't rained in ages, so I talked them into the Zoo instead.
We didn't get very far even though we were there for over 3 hours, but we did see the monkey exhibits, and the girls took turns for awhile writing about each exhibit they saw. The Red Tailed Hawk and the Lynx among others. Then they had an exhibit about rain forests and how to prevent deforestation and what that means, and had the kids making recycled paper from cardboard, paper, and vegetables. Both girls made a piece of paper.
Then we meandered over to the alligators an elephants, which temporarily lost their appeal in lieu of lunch. Then we went in the new Zots building, where they have all sorts of cool things for kids to explore. What kinds of things animals eat, xrays of animals, listening to different animal heart beats, surgical areas where you can "operate" on animals, etc. Very neat!
Then we went to a little exhibit on wetlands and why people shouldn't build houses in them, and then to the lizard show, where they had an alligator, an african bullfrog, a beaded lizard named Guapo, and a red footed tortoise. the girls loved this!
Then we learned budgeting in the Zoo shop. I gave them each $10 and it took forever for them to decide what to buy, but we finally escaped with our lives.
All in all, a fun day! Now to the gym again.
Soren got her back walkover last night and Emma stuck her first cartwheel on beam and got a baby giant by herself! Progress galore!
