LCG 3/8

Hello all,

We had our first real rehearsal today, with everyone casted in their parts.

I apologized to the children for not doing the best job in casting this. Since so many people wanted to be St. Francis or the wolf, we maybe could have done the process differently. But the children all seem willing to take their parts.

Note: Emma got the part of the wolf and is thrilled! I got a call from one of the other parents asking how thrilled she really was, b/c her daughter was really bummed :(

We had a great first rehearsal on the stage. All of the children should have tapes (thanks Danielle and Chip!). Please have your child listen to the tape each day. Night time is always a good time to help memorize-- just before sleep. They should be in good shape by next week.

I'd like to do another rehearsal/tea party at my house this Sunday, March 13 from 1-3PM. Please let me know if you can make it. If we can't get most of the class, I don't think we'll do it.

We had a visitor with us all day-- Jericho Sidlauskas(sp?), who is interested in joining LCG.

We got back to the room and dove into snack and celebrating Emma Kilmer's birthday with delicious muffins, song, birthday wishes and cute baby pictures.

The children did a great job on a very challenging form drawing-- a mirror image on the horizontal and vertical axis. I was very impressed with how well they did.

We got back to recorder a bit, practicing some old songs, and I introduced a bit of our song from the play.

At handwork time Melissa helped us finally finish off the blanket squares. Erin and her mom Catherine are going to stitch the final pieces together. I think we'll show it off at the spring equinox festival on March 22nd. Look for info on the equinox festival next week.

We finished with main lesson, reviewing the story of good St. Emma, and drawing pictures and writing in our main lesson books.
