LCG 11/9
Hello all,
Wanted to let you know that Kaite Donahue will not be continuing with the Evergreen Class. Their family is overly busy, with Kaite's brother and sister in school, and Kaite and her sister singing in the Bach Children's Chorus, with many rehearsals, so something had to go, and they have decided to drop LCG.
We are sad to see Kaite go. She will be coming to class for a bit next week to say good-bye. I told the children if they wanted they could make cards for her, and maybe include their phone numbers if they want to stay in touch.
We had a nice day today--We started with our opening, then we marched down to the Willow Class to show them our circle marching game. Lynne had mentioned that her young ones have a hard time maintaining an actual circle, so we marched for them.
It was great fun when they joined us.
We went back up and did some bean bag passing, still working on the 3's times table-- now counting by 3's backwards and forwards.
We did some singing and recorder, then worked on another mirror image in form drawing.
We had a bit of extra time for handwork, so we enjoyed more knitting time. We still need to work on focusing effort on our hands, instead of our mouths, but overall I am pleased with all of the knitting going on.
Then we had snack-- a delicious pumpkin pie with gluten-free crust, thanks to Danielle and Emma Milligan. We got to sing our "Pumpkin Pie" song twice today.
After snack we did some clapping games, then got into a longer Main Lesson time. All of the children took turns acting out "The Ant and the Grasshopper." Then we drew pictures and wrote our summary sentences.
Emma is really taking off with knitting. Soren is doing great with finger knitting and is just about ready to try with needles.
We still need to do our mock election. Life got so busy! But I still have all of our platforms that we wrote up.
We went to the library yesterday. emma is rereading some of Roald Dahl's books and they rented Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on video again. Fun stuff! They've been having a lot of playdates lately. Today is music class and we have an Evergreen class trip planned to the downtown library and the secret room for the first Friday in December.
We haven't been doing much that is formal in the last couple of weeks. I've been trying to let go of that a bit.
I'm teaching Soren how to alphabetize though, since that is something I do with forms a lot at work, and Emma has her first gymnastics meet this weekend.
I have to submit our quarterly report next week. I'm not sure what to say, but I'll figure it out!
