Camping and more math

We went camping and it was definitely an adventure. We got seriously rained out the last day/night, and came home covered in mud, but it was fun. Our friends bailed - their tent leaked, but we hung in there and the kids slept right through a wonderful t-storm and minor wetness in the tent.

We spent a lot of time at the beach, where Soren refused to go in the water because a lifeguard told her she couldn't go in with her floatie on. Turns out, you're not allowed to use anything other than a coast guard approved life vest, which is stupid, because they allow kids to wear those bathing suits with the floats in them, so they aren't enforcing things equally, which I pointed out to both Soren and the lifeguard, neither of whom were interested. So much for a lesson on dumbing down rules for the sake of the few who don't watch their kids while swimming ;). I tried!

Soren becamse fascinated with worms and found a really cool snail. We'll have to do some research on both of those (Note: Follow up on this!).

This morning, Soren is doing more math, and Emma is checking her work. Emma has almost finished The Borrowers. She lost another front tooth, and had a horrific time pulling it. I've never seen such drama. We'll have to do some study on losing teeth before the next one, yeesh!

We're off to the Arts Festival in State College tonight, where there will be lots of opportunities to view different kinds of fine arts and crafts. It should be fun! There's also lots of music, and Emma will attend two days of Hands on Science Camp while we're there.
