lcg soren 12/13

Hello Maple Class Families and Friends,
My apologies for being late in sending out a note about our class this week - I came home to a sick daughter (again!) and chaos has reigned since. We had a lively and varied class this past Tuesday. Cathleen was able to join us for the first hour, so we began the day with our form drawing - a "square spiral" as the children decided to name it. We first walked it in the Fellowship Hall, then traced it in the air with our fingers and on each others' backs, then let our crayons create what our bodies had experienced. We then opened our circle, saying our verses and practicing our Dwarves verse/songs. Sue told an abbreviated version of the story of Bonny Prince Charlie's flight "over the sea to Skye" as a prelude to singing the Skye Boat Song. We engaged minds and bodies in a challenge, as the Maples thought creatively about how to pass a ball around in order in the least possible time. Anne then helped us recall the story we heard last week, about a brave shepherd and a lost ewe. We drew and wrote in our main lesson books, then gathered for snack.
This was a special week, with two birthdays to celebrate. We enjoyed some delicious cupcakes and oranges as the first part of Nevasse's birthday celebration, and after a social and productive handwork time, we celebrated Isabella's birthday with clementines and birthday wishes. One last practice of our Solstice Celebration piece, and it was time to head out into the snowy cold. We look forward to seeing everyone next week for the Solstice festivities!
Best wishes,
Anne, Cathleen and Sue
