Kids went to Wards Science Center last Wednesday. Had a blast! David will post more details hopefully, since I couldn't take Jude.
LCG Soren 12/6
Dear Parents and Friends,
Laughter, conversations, riddles, songs and circle games, busy hands and a wonderful quiet for drawing and for the story; our classroom held these this week. We each sewed our own
"dwarf cap" for a verse we are learning. We listened to a story about a shepherd and a missing sheep, "The Fir Tree" and later we sang about an old Fir Tree. With Cathleen, we drew wonderful, intricate forms after we had counted and learned the figures with our hands, fingers and feet. Songs and games wound their way through the afternoon: Blue-Bird, Knotting Hands , " Who said that?" and "Who took the Burning Log?" We welcomed Melissa for a solid half-hour of handwork and were happy to share Soren's birthday with her Mom and Jude. All the fresh fruit they brought disappeared as fast as we could cut it! Truly, this is a group of fruit lovers.
Here's hoping that soon we'll be able to get outside to play together on a clear and welcoming playground hill!
Warmly,
Anne and Sue

ello parents,
I just had a brief time with the class today, as I had three sick kids at home! We also missed Michaela who was home sick.
We started today by working on reciting a poem we will say at solstice next week. We passed bean bags as we said it to help us memorize. We also worked on a song for next week
Then we had a rather calm game of "The Big Wind Blows." I really enjoyed being with the class today. I feel like we have gelled and are a family.
Then I told them the simple story of "How the apple got stars," and we cut open apples to see the "stars" inside.
Then we got busy on handwork-- Melissa and Lauren came in, and Cathleen Brauen came in to lead the class for the rest of the afternoon. They were to practice another solstice song with the two older classes, have snack, and do some "star walking" with Cathleen.
I had brought in some snowflake patterns-- I hope they got to bring them home. If you're looking for more--
Here is a site with patterns of snowflakes that you can download and
cut out.

We will have class next week, until 3:00. Snack/clean-up family is Kilmer-- we'll need to begin clean-up by 2:30-2:40 so we can head down to Fellowship Hall at 3:00 for the winter solstice celebration. Hope you can all join us, it is a most special celebration.
Wishing you all some moments of peace in the coming week,
Lynn
